color me happy

Good morning, and Happy Friday! Today is the big day, the house in Ohio is finally sold and closes this morning. Good luck mom and Jeff, we have a ton of crap and I'm glad I'm not there. I also hope moving this time doesn't go as badly as the last time and no ambulances are involved!

My spirits are finally up thanks to my family and friends so I want to share something colorful, bright and happy to show how I'm feeling. This tableware from French Bull is so young and exciting and I love it. It's a great set to have for the dinners on the porch (when it gets warm that is)! The color wheel is such a symbol to me and I think it's fabulous!

Enjoy and have a great weekend. I will be in Charlotte with a great friend so I will see you on Monday.

spring must haves

Gloomy weather here today and I cannot get spring off my mind.  Found a few things perfect for the upcoming warm weather.  Metallic, color and nautical are three words to live by this year and here's what I found.

Love these looks to death.  The bathing suit from Victoria's Secret is the perfect combination of all three, metallic, color and nautical.  Oh Joy helped me out on the scarf from J Crew, scarfs are not just for winter the light color gives your spring outfit a nice flow.  I'm obsessed with this Dooney & Burke purse I found on sale at Zappos and the outfits from Tina Turk are gorgeous.  I need the beach and sun asap, what about you?

hot child in the city

Been very busy the past couple of days, and I have a little down time in class right now so I thought I would show you what I just worked on.  We had to put a famous piece of artwork in a city scene, then manipulate the photographs.  Enjoy.

simply breakfast

Jennifer Causey, I love her! She does beautiful photography, for everyday and for, my favorite, weddings! But in my opinion the best thing she does is her blog. Simply Breakfast is a photograph of the day of her breakfast, how cleaver. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day so I love how beautiful she makes it look. She also has a new book out called Simply Paris, which appears to be some of her best photos to one of her favorite places. Please check her out, her work is amazing!

Hope you have a great breakfast this morning, I had an egg white omelet with tons of veggies, wheat toast and skim milk :)

my addiction

Okay, so I have this problem, I am OBSESSED with Victoria's Secret, and bathing suit season is my weakness. I am strong all year, but when there are new bikinis and bonus beach bags, I feel I cannot live without them. I already made my spring purchase this year and got 3 new bikinis (for a very good deal by the way) and the free tote. Little did I know they would come out with new bikinis and a different tote, and I need it!!!!

Also I don't have a black bikini which everyone has to have. Yes I am trying to justify this so if anyone wants to donate to the Kelsey has no money and no job but needs to look fabulous on spring break fund, let me know and I will gladly take the donation! Here's a preview of what I NEED and maybe you'll understand!
How freaking cute right?? And the bag, no words, I just cannot live without it :)

measure up

Sorry I have been a little absent the past couple of days, I have been busy with school and boot camp, so I have a few post today to make up for it.

The first is thanks to a great friend Julie who is just like me in the aspect she loves to design and stay healthy! And I love her! She found these great bowls by measure up. When you are having that bowl of cereal before bed or yogurt and fruit in the morning, forget the hassle with measuring cups, your bowl tells you the exact amount! These are so cool and so handy I definitely need to get these!! Thanks Jul!

travel in style

Good Morning, this is a very busy week. School is actually getting into a groove and tests are starting to happen... So I will try to blog as much as possible, but when my life consists of business ethics, earth science, and religion, I have trouble finding something creative and interesting to talk about.

I found something last week, and I cannot remember where I found it, so whoever you were sorry, but thanks for the idea! I am going to Italy for two weeks in May and a lot of other traveling is coming up in my future, so I figured I need to travel in as much style as possible, especially since I am going to Europe. Thanks to Steam Line Luggage, I found the
perfect set of luggage for me. Girly and young, yet sophisticated and chic! Although sold out at the moment the Editor Series should be back in April. I love the pink of course!

Hope you all get to travel some where great (and warm) this year!

p.s. here are more items for my bucket list:

15. Shop on Rodeo Drive
16. Spend a Christmas at the Plaza Hotel in New York City, just like Eloise!
17. Learn to sail
18. Visit, Paris, Milan, Hawaii and Australia
19. Attend fashion week in New York City
20. Go to the Summer Olympics

words to live by

When it comes to relationships and boys, in my opinion you have to make your own mistakes to learn. I can tell you I have made the mistakes but I am still learning. I also know, like me, you will follow your heart even if heartbreak is ahead. But thanks to Glamour here are 15 rules for the single girl to live by. And because I can picture my self in a lot of these situations, I actually believe the outside party this time and I hope you will too!

1. Guys are like subway trains. Don't run after them; another one is on it's way.
2. If he says he isn't ready for a relationship, believe him.
3. Marry someone you want to sit next to for the rest of your life.
4. You don't want to be walked over, and you don't want a man you can walk over either.
5. To love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance.
6. The guys who were nerdy in high school make the best husbands.
7. You can tell a lot about a guy by how he treats your cab driver.
8. If he likes you , you'll know. If he doesn't you'll be 'confused'.
9. Respect yourself. You can't make him your everything, if you're only his something.
10. Never marry a man who has no friends.
11. Say no to guys you usually say yes to, and yes to the ones you normally say no to. (trying to keep us 'bad boy lovers' away from the bad boys)
12. Never tattoo a guy's name on your body
13. Personal hygiene is part of the package.
14. Don't trust anyone who doesn't laugh.
15. It's OK to show up at a guy's house with a dozen roses and declare your undying affection. It's OK to have too much to drink and call your ex 20 times and then to be mortally embarrassed when you realize your number must have shown up on his caller ID. It's OK, because making a fool of yourself for love is ultimately about you, how much you give and the distances you will travel to keep your heart wide open when everything around you makes you feel like slamming it shut and soldering it closed.

I need to come to realization with #8 and I need to believe #15.

the things you can do...

Wednesdays are absolute chaos, so this will be short and sweet. My Step Mom and designer, Margaret Couch sent me a link to the top 100 most creative people in business. I just scanned through it, and these people are amazing! Check out number 98, Scott Schuman, he's on there for blogging! The Sartorialist looks awesome and it will be one of my daily reads. The Mac guy is of course number one, come on now... wish I came up with that one!

Take a few minutes to check it out and set your hopes high, maybe in a few years you'll be on the list! (I'm secretly hoping I am)

Few more items for my bucket list:
9. Go to an Ohio State vs. Michigan football game (Go Bucks).
10. Take a road trip across the United States, with no destination, just a ride.
11. Go to a Carolina vs. Duke basketball game (they are playing tonight, Go Heels!!)
12. Go to the Super Bowl
13. Drive stick shift
14. Learn to snowboard

under my umbrella ella ella

I don't know what it is, but there is something great about an umbrella. Obviously protecting us from rain is one of their great qualities, but the image of an umbrella to me is so romantic and iconic. It is my plan in the future to do a little project with an umbrella, all I need to do is find the perfect one, hopefully in red. Although I just found this black and white Bella Pagoda umbrella that is so awesome but a little out of my price range. I also thought the Lover's umbrella was adorable and fit into my theme this month!

the best thing i ever ate

Happy Monday, at least for me! I am super excited because my roommates and I are going to 1924 Prime, the steak house on campus. Yes, campus, I know I go to school at a country club. Anyway it always makes me think of my favorite restaurant and of course my former job. I was a hostess at Ruth's Chris Steak House in both
Wilmington and Greensboro, North Carolina. But in Wilmington I was opening a brand new store, and that means taste testing. Along with learning every ingredient in every food, I got to taste everything on the menu. Four days and 4,000 calories later I had eaten some of the best food I had ever had.

I have had a few meals there, but only with my discount and only on special occasions, so when I get to go to Ruth's Chris it's kind of a big deal. My favorite item on the menu is their cheese cake. Oh. My. God. It is that good, my mouth is literally watering. It is definitely hard to go there because everything is so good. And on those boring nights as a hostess I have put together the perfect meal for every season. So if anyone is heading there in the near future I have a ton of suggestions!
I bring up Ruthy's because Valentines Day is one of the biggest events of the year. I worked last year 11 am to 1130 pm. We had a little under 900 people in the book, I did not stop moving, but it was so much fun! So this year spend your hard earned money on a meal I can guarantee will be fabulous! And the service will make you feel like royalty!

roses are red

Bringing in the spring, or trying to, I am obsessed with wearing floral. The brighter the better! I love dresses, bags, tops shorts, jewelry, anything floral and bright I want! The Garden Collection by H&M comes out in March and I cannot wait another day. Not only are the prints bright and bold and the shape of each piece is unique, but with this new collection is completely organic. Maybe if we protect our Earth with sustainable clothes we'll have spring weather more often!

Take a look, I seriously want everything and the prices are super cheap!

So natural, great for the beach

What a PERFECT valentine's day outfit, too bad we have to wait till March
This is my favorite, out at night or over your bikini to the beach!

Happy shopping!

sealed with a kiss

After all the letting writing in Dear John it makes me want to stop texting, put down the phone and pick up a pen and paper. Although I know I won't be doing that anytime soon, a girl can dream. But after a beautiful love letter, a spritz of my perfume, all the letter needs is a kiss. Make sure he knows it's there with this cute lip stamp, by Cox & Cox once again! Too cute!

xoxo (kisses and hugs of course, I'm in desperate need of this stamp)

sugar, sugar

Greedy Girl helped me out once again and I am obsessed. This special sugar will sweeten up any event and any moment. I want the brown sugar hearts at my wedding shower tea party and the sugar cubes every day of the week! They are so adorable, everything Cox & Cox does for weddings in elegant and timeless.

Keep it sweet in everything you do!

dear john

"I miss you so much it hurts"

One of the many great lines from the new movie Dear John. Premiering today, it was of course a must see with my girls. Yes, we balled our eyes out. Yes, Channing Tatum is so gorgeous in every single second. And yes, it's a must see. That is all I will say because you need to see it for yourself. But I will leave a preview!

mini goodess

The snow here is getting out of control. Boot camp and one of my classes were cancelled. And yes we have somewhat of a snow day and I am complaining. It is throwing off my well balanced schedule and I am all about a plan.

Something did cheer me up on Design*Sponge though. She featured mini valentines from the
smallest post office in the world. I have always loved mini's, especially American Girl Doll minis, they were the best. But here's to show, even the smallest amount of love is great!!

be mine

Good morning! I am waiting for my class to start because I have been up since 6am for boot camp. It's the second day and it's going well so far. I ran a 8.16 min mile which is the fastest I have ever done, so I'm pretty proud of myself this morning!

I just got through my routine of blogs I go through every morning. Design*Sponge, Greedy Girl, Oh Joy!, Happy Lady Eats, and Looks Good To Me. Design*Sponge I can rely on around 8am which is great cause I need some fresh creativity when I wake up. I also stumbled across Amy Atlas's blog. I have loved her for a long time (I want her job)! Her last couple of posts are falling right into my theme of the sweet month of February. And because I can't eat sweets, I'm just going to stare at them!

Amy's tables are absolutely gorgeous and her sweets and treats are too beautiful to eat. Here is what she has done for the month of love!

Enjoy the pink and the sweets! I love the cookie hearts, and the cupcakes are too freakin' cute!

put a ring on it

Found these heart rings by Cynthia Rowley and fell in love! The three tones make them so cool to wear together and they match everything. Subtle love is the best kind! A little out of my price range but what a great valentine's day present, wink wink ;)

OHIO love you

Cold, gray, depressing, just a few words I think of when I think of my hometown Columbus, Ohio. But I have to say I don't give the town enough credit. Summers are beautiful, we're the home of the Buckeyes, and I have amazing friends and family who live there (and lets just say no one could survive the cold and grey without friends, family, and football).

One of my favorite parts of Ohio is the unique downtown areas that hold some of the best food, drinks and desserts! To keep up with my sweet theme of February I have to tell you about Jeni's Ice Cream. With only a few locations in central Ohio, they have made quite a name for themselves. Their ice cream flavors are so crazy and out there it makes them hard to resist. Some of my favorites being Thai Chili, which is complex flavors of hot, salty, savory and sweet together to provide a satisfying treat, basically peanut butter with a kick or Queen City Cayenne (mom's favorite) which is rich chocolate that slowly reveals hints of spice. Combine the two and you have one spicy peanut butter cup. How great does that sound?

The best is their seasonal flavors such as pumpkin in the fall, eggnog in the winter, cherries and goat cheese in the summer (yes, I said goat cheese) and who knows what's to come for the spring! It is really the best ice cream I have ever had. I encourage you to make Ohio a destination this summer, the ice cream is worth it! Also be sure to watch Food Network's Unwrapped on February 9th at 9:00pm one of their new spring flavors, Roxbury Road is being featured.

love is in the air

It's the first of February and when I think February I think red, pink, chocolate and love! Of course like any other girly girl, pink is my all time favorite color and I'm obsessed with anything having to do with love, valentines and marriage, so February is my favorite winter month. I found this artwork at Coulson Macleod a while back but Greedy Girl reminded me again! I absolutely love this art work! It feels so vintage and the words are bold and meaningful. The short and sweet sayings are so great and hold so much love but the black and gray pieces are my favorite. Look closely, you'll probably find the most romantic quote from your favorite love story.

The love stories in the movies are the best because you can live vicariously though them and not get hurt :) so great!

Enjoy and tell someone how much you love them!

xoxo
